Backer Board Pro Tile Backer Board Insulation is available in 6mm, 10mm, 20mm & 30mm depths. Designed to insulate and resurface walls and floors. These insulation boards can be tiled onto, plastered over and also rendered. Perfect in wet room areas.
Likewise very applicable if you have a wooden sub-floor. As the tile backer boards can be screwed directly to the wooden floor with cement board washers found in our shop. In addition, the insulation boards can also be glued down with a flexible tile adhesive. Please note that the 6mm boards are not suitable for walls. In this case, 10mm, 20mm or 30mm boards should be selected for walls in cases where tiles are being installed over the insulation boards.

Many Applications
The fire resistance properties of cement-bonded blue particle boards and cement fibre boards are the same. In terms of load-bearing capacity, cement-bonded particle boards have a higher capacity than cement fibre boards.
Cement particle boards are manufactured from 1⁄4 to 1 9⁄16 inches (6 to 40 mm) in thickness making them suitable for high load-bearing applications. These boards are made of a homogeneous mixture and hence are formed as a single layer for any thickness. Cement fibre boards are more used in decorative applications and can be manufactured from 1⁄8 to 13⁄16 inch (3 to 20 mm) thickness.
Cement boards are mainly cement-bonded particle boards and cement fibre. Cement-bonded particle boards have treated wood flakes as reinforcement, whereas in cement fibre boards have cellulose fibre, which is a plant extract as reinforcement. Cement acts as a binder in both cases.

Backer Board PRO is a fully waterproof insulation board with an excellent load-bearing strength of 40 tonnes per square metre and is very easy to handle when installing. Backer Board PRO is unaffected by the freeze/thaw cycle, and being CFC-, HCFC- and asbestos-free, it is safe for use in any location.

About Our Products
Our professional cement boards are manufactured from cement-bonded particles and cement fibres. In our cement tile backer boards, we use high-quality treated wood flakes as opposed to cellulose fibres, creating a strong resilient board.

Many manufacturers use additives like Mica, Aluminium Stearate and Cenospheres to achieve certain board qualities. Typical cement fibre board is made of approximately 40-60% of cement, 20-30% of fillers, 8-10% of cellulose, and 10-15% of mica. Other additives like above mentioned Aluminium Stearate and PVA are normally used in quantities less than 1%. Cenospheres are used only in low-density boards with quantities between 10-15%. The actual recipe depends on available raw materials and other local factors.
